Please join us in congratulating Ms. Pugh on her successful therapy completion and return home to her family. Ms. Pugh chose Christian Care Center of Bolivar for her rehabilitation needs due to generalized weakness she was experiencing.
Our Broad River Rehab Therapists are excited about her quick progress. With dedication in every session, she made significant gains in strength, balance, and tolerance through Physical and Occupational Therapy, and enhanced her cognitive skills through Speech Therapy.
We extend our best wishes to Ms. Pugh for her continued success.
This week, our therapy sessions coincided with St. Patrick's Day celebrations, during which we got creative.
St. Patrick's Day named for Ireland's patron saint, is a global celebration held in March, characterized by parades and festivities saturated with the color green. The prominence of green is a representation of Ireland's lush landscapes.
St. Patrick utilized the shamrock to illustrate the Holy Trinity to the Irish population. The shamrock's three leaves represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Since the 18th century, the shamrock has been a national emblem of Ireland.
Although originating in Ireland, many people worldwide claim Irish heritage, and St. Patrick's Day celebrations serve as means to honor that heritage. Interestingly, the phrase “the luck of the Irish” may be attributed to Ireland's exceptionally high incidence of four-leaf clovers.
Our Broad River Rehab Staff at Christian Care Center of Bolivar enjoyed integrating fun in functionality into our patients' sessions.
Derek Hollbrook, our Executive Director, met with State Representative Johnny Shaw and Senator Page Walley at this year’s THCA Legislative Conference in Nashville to discuss healthcare funding and other needs for the healthcare industry.
We proudly recognize Ms. Margie Arnold's successful completion of her therapy program this week, at Christian Care Center of Bolivar.
Ms. Arnold expressed commitment to her treatment program in hopes of returning home with her prior level of function. Her notable success, marked by improved activity tolerance, walking distance, standing balance, and overall endurance, was achieved in a brief period.
Ms. Arnold attributes her success to her unwavering dedication, saying, “All of you have been absolutely wonderful to me. I would not be going home if it were not for you therapists believing in my abilities.”
We are delighted to acknowledge Ms. Arnold's outstanding achievements. Her warm and welcoming nature encouraged others to view therapy positively. Our Broad River Rehab staff extends their warmest congratulations to Ms. Arnold.

Throughout his therapy sessions, Mr. Cannon demonstrated significant improvement within his cognitive function and communication in developing construction and comprehensive approaches. He also regained muscle strength, active range of motion, tolerance, endurance, balance, and coordination while standing and walking.
His consistent participation and determination enabled him to successfully complete his rehabilitation plan. Mr. Cannon expressed, “I am thankful to return home, feeling so much stronger than when I first arrived. If I ever need therapy again, I will definitely return here.” Our Broad River Rehab staff wishes Mr. Cannon all the best as he returns home.
Mr. Lawrence Searles opted for Christian Care Center of Bolivar to meet his rehabilitation needs after experiencing a hip fracture due to a fall in his home.
He worked closely with our Broad River Rehab Therapist to recover his prior level of function. His consistent efforts promoted him to attain his goals and return home with his wife. Through Physical and Occupational Therapy, he regained muscle strength, physical endurance, standing balance, walking distance, and footwork coordination, while also maintaining his mental acuity during Speech Therapy sessions.
He shared a tearful farewell, expressing heartfelt appreciation to both Christian Care Center of Bolivar and Broad River Rehab Staff members for their assistance in enabling him to return home with his wife. We are pleased to celebrate his success and extend our best wishes.
This week, Broad River Rehab at Christian Care Center of Bolivar, Tennessee, is encouraging everyone to donate blood in recognition of National Blood Donor Month. January is a month to acknowledge and thank those who donate blood or pledge to donate. It is also a critical time to schedule a donation, as the demand for blood is usually high.
The first National Blood Donor Month was established in January 1970, after Presidential Richard Nixon's proclamation on December 31, 1969. Given the alarming statistics that only 3% of Americans donate blood, it is essential to promote more diverse participation.
Consider scheduling a donation soon to help save lives. You can connect with the professionals at American Red Cross for more information at www.redcross.org.
This week we honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day as we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of a champion of equality and justice.
King was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, a movement that achieved several groundbreaking legislative reforms in the United States.
His speeches continue to inspire, and his famous “I Have a Dream” speech remains a powerful symbol of hope for a brighter future. As we reflect on his remarkable legacy, we urge everyone to embody his spirit of kindness, compassion, and equality. Let us strive to create a world where every individual can live with dignity and respect, and where justice reigns supreme. We express our heartfelt appreciation to Martin Luther King Jr. and his lasting legacy.
The campaign for a federal Holiday in the United States, observed on the third Monday of January each year, began soon after his assassination in 1968. President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed three years later on January 20, 1986.
This week, we are proudly recognizing Ms. Wanda Graham successful completion of her therapy plan. Christian Care Center of Bolivar was her preferred provider for rehabilitation services.
Ms. Wanda demonstrated exceptional commitment to her treatment plan, motivated by her desire to return home to her husband. Her remarkable progress, evident in improved activity tolerance, walking distance, standing balance, and overall endurance was achieved in a remarkable brief period. Ms. Wanda credits her success to her unwavering dedication, saying, “I knew that if I worked hard, I would be able to return home to my husband and enjoy moving around better and safer.”
We are delighted to acknowledge Ms. Wanda's outstanding achievement. Her engaging personality illuminated our gym as she worked diligently to attain her goals. The Broad River Rehab staff offers the warmest congratulations to Ms. Wanda.
At Christian Care Center of Bolivar, our Broad River Rehab patients recently participated in a Christmas crafts-making activity with our Therapy Team.
We have greatly enjoyed creating festive memories with our rehab patients. To make their exercises more engaging, we focused on improving their activity tolerance, physical endurance, balance, hand movements, and coordination skills. Listening to them recount their favorite Christmas memories with loved ones was truly heartwarming.
As we embark on a new year, let us reflect on the peaks and pits of 2024. May everyone have a memorable Holiday.
This week we share photos of our patients decorating our Therapy tree at Christian Care Center of Bolivar.
Ms. McWhorter and Ms. Harris were alongside our Occupational Therapist, Morgan Mills, getting our gym in the Christmas spirit. The ladies had many laughs as they worked on balance, activity tolerance and endurance while decorating. We find it essential to apply fun in functional during our therapy sessions to make exercising more likable.
This season, as you gaze at your own Christmas trees, keep a few things in mind: Be a light to bring others joy, and wear as much glitter as you want so you can leave a little sparkle in your path.
Our Broad River Rehab Staff hope everyone has just as much fun as we did decorating for the Holiday season.
The Residents enjoyed Santa and Christmas cookies! Thank you Jillian Taylor and Staff of Legacy Hospice.
Ms. Kathryn Smith came to Christian Care Center of Bolivar for her rehab needs. She is legally blind but did not let that stop her from successfully completing her therapy sessions. She was able to build up her endurance, correct her standing balance, and successfully perform her daily living tasks.
Due to Ms. Smith’s blind state, she found it to be very helpful to have bubble-styled stickers on her remote and various surfaces to help her know what she was touching. She is a fast learner and filled with determination. She is now able to walk with stand-by assistance for vision guidance.
Ms. Smith is a sweet lady, and our Broad River Rehab Staff are thankful she trusted us for her rehab needs. We wish her continued success as she returns home with home health and nearby family.
